Going to Seattle end of week. . .

So I have been sick for over 2 weeks now and when I went to the doctor he said I was on the edge with walking pneumonia. That is the main reason that I have been neglectful this week. I was out of work last week on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. I am turning the corner now after some very powerful antibiotics. Of course that has its downside too. LOL

Anne is going back to work on Thursday and Friday and Then we are off to Seattle Friday night. Little Drew will be having his first two days of day care, and his first plane ride all in the same week! We are looking forward to seeing friends and family while we are in Seattle.

On the down side my cousin is loosing her battle with cancer. Cathy decided to have a baptism for her son and made it out of bed for the ceremony in the hospital. My parents were down to see her in Southern, NJ this Friday and Saturday. Our prayers are with her and her family.

Lil Drew doing well Big Drew Laid Up. . .

Big Drew has been sick for the last three days and doing nothing but sleeping on the couch to stay away from the baby. Lil Drew is doing well except he is still suffering from acid reflux. I wonder what is making him so tense? LOL. We had a very significant snowstorm here today and the roads were very bad.

Smiles Everyone. . .

The baby is smiling much more often now and we thought we would share a picture. He has been looking out the window at the birds this morning and grabbing and playing with his elephant.

Thanksgiving

We were greeted to a Thanksgiving with a light dusting of snow. It was just enough to be pretty and not enough to mess things up for everyone's travel plans. We received a nice centerpiece for the table from Anne's Grandfather in Washington.

Dinner is turkey and mashed potatoes, stuffing, green beans and a choice of two pies. My dad is slaving away in his kitchen as I write this piece.

New Things and Little Drew

A very significant person in our family's life and that of Drew senior stopped by the house tonight bringing gifts and well wishes for Drew. That person is none other than Betty Hengst. Betty ran the Montessori school where big Drew spent his formative years and learned how to read. Her influence has had a big influence on Drew and the family. In fact you could say she inspired me to get involved in education.

Betty and her husband Werner own a group of Montessori schools--where with any luck Little Drew will attend.

Growth

Drew grew 3/4 of an inch and 4 oz at his doctor visit today. He is healthy and doing well. He was very good while mom drove all over the place.

Halloween

Lil Drew Spent his first Halloween in a Lobster outfit. The get-up was much more fun for Mom and Dad than it was for Drew. Although we have had few trick or treaters we are enjoying the holiday.

Weekends. . .

Here is little Drew in the Swing Uncle Bob and Aunt Robbin got for him. It swings and plays music. He is a little small for it now but he is getting bigger by the day.

Also included is a picture of little Drew in a hat from Theresa Boitel. He looks like a snowboarder.

so what is this father thing?

Each day I come home and want to see the boy who is my son. Interesting in that he is just starting to focus and know who I am. He does recognize the voice. My voice is somewhat unique. I am sitting upstairs while Anne gets some much needed and much deserved rest. He spent some time in the very nice gift from uncle bob parrish. He bought us a very nice swing and a baby bjiorne. Thanks bob!

Yo you gotta Problem wit Dat

He is from New York :)

lil Drew Goes on a trip -- Down the street

Lil Drew took a trip in the car today for some fun outside. Mom needed to get outside before she went crazy. We went to Costco and Stew Leonards in Yonkers and took some pictures along the way.

At Stew Leonards we ran into Kendrick an old friend from Esterwood and Jensina days and his new fiance Tara. A blast from the past.

Lil Drew News Saturday

Lil Drew is sleeping in the bassinet during the day but he just kicks and screams in it at night. He is the barracuda feeder. Eating time is no nonsense. It must be that mom is eating fish once a week.

The Poolice

It's official Drew is now a member of the poolice.
That is when he is not be a boobhound :)

Baby News October 13, 2005

Drew Slept for two hours and then two hours again straight last night. Woohoo! He is off for a trip to the doctor's office today -- not for him--but for mom to check on the stitches. It has been raining for a couple of days and the temperature has dropped so we will need to bundle him up well for the trip.

Right now he is in his little vibrating chair playing with his new crunchy stuffed animal. He is doing a great job of grabbing and recognizing things. It won't be long at all before he can turn himself over.

The 3:09 Blues

It is early in the morning and you all might be asking what I am doing up at this hour when it is my usual custom to awake in about 2 hours for the beginning of my day. Well Drew had a meltdown about 15 minutes ago. Sadly it woke me up. Anne is nursing the baby slash snoring right now.

He is tending toward having a meltdown at this hour and we are trying to do our best. In few minutes I am headed to the couch for some R&R before the 5AM wake up call. Today in class my kids in all but one class are doing presentations -- so the awake factor is not as much of a problem. I feel bad for Anne since she has been trying to let me get more sleep.

OK 3:14 and all is calm. See you all soon.

Home. . .

My first week I have been doing most of my sleeping during the day and most of my fussing and crying at night. Ha ha ha Evil laugh. . . Today on October 10th I had my first bath. I am enjoying all the attention I am getting and I am happy and healthy--oh and rested--unlike my parents.

Ok just one more thing before I go to bed. A picture for you! This is my big brother Gus and he has been very good about me coming and all of the changes. He gets upset when I cry but knows that I am part of the family. He likes to lick my feet so my mom keeps socks on me at all times.

Sunday I go home. . .

Oh my god what is that glowing orb in the sky? Oh that is just the sun. Whew. We went home today and here are the pictures to prove it. Did I mention that my grandmom from Seattle just flew in to spend the week? Here she is.

There is more to the story but I am tired from keeping mom and dad from sleeping so I will talk to you later.

Visits from the family. . .

Uncle Eric, and Grandma and Grandpa Pecunia showed up just after I was born to join in the fun!

Dad and the doctor were there too. Mom did not get out of recovery until 3 AM!

Here is Doctor Grecco with Mom! He had to reach up really high to get me out of Mom. I was nice and comfy in there.

Being born. . .

Being born is not as much fun as you might think. I mean here I was at a perfect 98.6 degrees in a nice bed of water all comfy when in cuts this doctor and pulls me out of mom. The whole operation was cool for dad to watch. It was just like the learning channel. Although I suspect it was much more fun for dad than mom.

The days between Wednesday and Sunday. . .

The days between Wednesday and Sunday were filled with dad sleeping on the pullout cot and mom trying to get over her incision and blisters from the surgical dressing. Good thing the nurses came in every 2 hours to wheel me in from the mursery or mom and dad would have nothing to do but sleep. Sleep? What's that?

Before the birth. . .

Mom was pretty nervous before the birth and they tried to get her to go into labor before sending her in for surgery. She got to four centimeters but I did not want to drop down. So Dr. Grecco decided to take me out whether I wanted it or not. Good job mom!

Lil Drew Pecunia is Born

Little Drew Pecunia or Andrew Neilson Pecunia II was born on Wednesday, September 28th at 8:44 PM, at Northern Westchester Hospital in Mt. Kisco, New York. He weighed in at a healthy 8lb 6oz.

His apgar score was 9.9 out of 10. This isn't surprising as he spent part of his gestational period at the Ivy Leagues with mom. I am four days old in this picture. Mom liked the picture so much she put it on a candy bar.
